Supplier Quality Engineer

Job Description

Under the direction and guidance of the QHSE Manager the Supplier Quality Engineer will execute a supply base improvement strategy for the site. The candidates? goal is to improve supplier quality working towards zero defects through continuously improving supplier?s internal processes. The Supplier Quality Engineer will participate in supplier selection and qualification.

  • Executes a supplier improvement strategy for the site.
  • Measures and drives supplier performance on quality, delivery and service.
  • Drives communication with supplier to improve process capability of supplied products.
  • Conducts supplier quality systems audits. Fully understands, interprets, and audits to ISO 9001.
  • Works with supplier on process evaluation and continuous improvement.
  • Leads team with purchasing, engineering, operations and Supplier on root cause analysis for quality issues.
  • Accountability on supplier first article submissions.
  • Reviews FMEAs, Control Plans and other supplier documentation for adequacy.
  • Knowledgeable with hands on experience in the application of Lean and Six Sigma tools.
  • Support Supplier Qualification and problem resolution.
  • Create and Maintain a High Level of Customer Oriented Processes for Internal & External customers to improve performance and to manage, lead and motivate personnel into and effective organization.
  • Create and Maintain a High Level of Collaboration with all Operational business units & Support Processes.
  • Actively coordinate and collaborate to comply with the established management systems, namely Safety (OHSAS18001), Environmental (ISO 14001), and Quality (ISO 9001) within its area of responsibility.
  • Identify potential risks and its possible impact on Safety, Environmental & Quality Management Systems and implement improvements to reduce the risk and impact within its area of responsibility.
  • Provide assurance that safety, health and environmental rules and regulations are met or exceeded within its area of responsibility.
  • Additional duties as assigned.

  • Requirements


  • B.S. in Engineering (Industrial, Mechanical, or Manufacturing Preferred) or equivalent work experience required.
  • Experience in Auditing (CQA preferred). Minimum 3 years? experience in Quality Assurance in a manufacturing setting.
  • Must have solid understand of ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 management systems.
  • Certification as Internal Auditor or Lead Assessor preferred.
  • Experience with 10 CFR 50 and NQA-1 desired.
  • Experience in Lean and Six Sigma.
  • ASQ Certifications Preferred ? CQM, CQA, CQE


    Don't Be Fooled

    The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
